Opinion Writing

We are now in our second trimester of the school year and have switched our writing genre focus from personal narratives to opinion writing. This week we have been doing different activities to explore the differences between fact and opinion. We have also been learning to support opinions with evidence. Today we did a fun activity with the book Duck! Rabbit! The book is very funny and has two voices arguing over whether or not the picture in question shows a duck or a rabbit. We read the book then each student took a copy of the duck/rabbit picture, decorated it to look like either a duck or rabbit, and wrote an explanation to support their opinion.
