First Week of School

Hi there families, my computer is acting funny at the moment and not letting me access all of the photos I've taken since school started but I am posting what I can get to today so you can see some of what we've been doing!

This week we are working on a counting project during math time where students are exploring strategies for counting a collection of cubes. Yesterday students worked with partners to decide how they wanted to count a collection. Afterwards we had a class discussion about what they chose to do and which strategies they found to be most successful. Today we are going to continue our discussion and do more counting, focusing on grouping the objects before we count.

On Tuesday we did a guided discovery lesson of the bus with Mrs. McCleary, our guidance counselor. She showed us the different safety features of a bus (the different lights, mirrors, exits, and the safety bar that comes out in front when the bus stops) and we got on a bus to practice the safe way to sit while riding a bus.

We did a "getting to know you" scavenger hunt where kids mingled in the classroom asking each other questions like "do you like pizza/dogs/the beach, etc?" This gave everyone a chance to continue learning each other's names and helped them to learn about their classmates interests!

More photos and information to come once I can access the rest of them! If you don't see your child pictured please make sure you signed and returned the blog permission slip!
