Kiblogs

Students in our class have started blogging! Students are using a platform called Kidblog which offers them a way to practice communication skills (how to tell about one topic and also read/synthesize the information written by someone else and comment on it in a way that opens a conversation). Blogging also reinforces writing, spelling, and keyboarding skills for students and can be used like an online journal.

Kidblog is a private blogging forum and only allows people who we have invited to our class (such as family members) or made connections with (other classes we know) to see/comment on the students' blogs. It is therefore private and secure for the kids to practice with as opposed to a regular blog forum like blogger where anyone on the internet can see it. Later this week I will send out email invitations to parents so you can join our class on Kidblog and be able to read/comment on your child's posts. Being able to read comments from friends and family makes this writing experience so much more fun for kids!

Students may use their Kidblogs at home by clicking the Kidblog link at the right side of this blog under "Student Links," finding their first name in the drop-down menu, and entering their password, which is their last name starting with a capital letter followed by the numbers 1234. I moderate all comments so if a student is looking for a specific comment and does not see it it may be that I have not yet approved recent comments.

Happy blogging and be on the lookout for your email invitation to join us on Kidblog!
