Being a "Bucket Filler"
This week we read the books, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? and How Full is Your Bucket? The books tell kids that everyone has an invisible bucket that holds all of your feelings and we either fill or dip out of people's buckets with the things that we say or do. When we give compliments, help people, use kind words and safe bodies. invite others to play, etc we fill their buckets and filling someone else's bucket gives us good feelings and so helps to fill our own bucket too! When our bucket is full we feel happy and good about ourselves. At UMS all classrooms talk about ways we can be "bucket fillers" as we practice our school rules (be safe, be kind, do your best). Ask your child about this and you will likely hear them using this language as well!
