In some very exciting news from first grade the chicks should be ready to hatch this coming week! The kids are all very knowledgeable about what is happening inside our eggs and know that on Monday, day 20 of the 21 day incubation, we should plan to start seeing some pips which are the first holes poked in the eggs by the hatching chicks! The prediction is that Tuesday, day 21, the chicks will start to hatch.
In even more exciting news we have a live cam set up via laptop/internet in one of the first grade classrooms (not ours) pointed at the incubator so you can check in online to see what is going on with the hatch! Once the chicks are ready to be transferred from the incubator to a tank where they can run around, eat, etc the live cam will be moved so you can watch them in all their adorable glory in there for the rest of the week.
Don't forget that for the last hour of the day on Friday we will be having our annual chick celebration where families can come in open house style and meet the chicks and see the work the kids have done in learning about their life cycle.
